Homemade Dishwashing Detergent - Fail!

OK - it's been ages since I've written a new blog. So much for promises to keep y'all posted on my adventures of becoming a crunchy hippie. My apologies :(

I come to you tonight to discuss my recent FAILURE with homemade dishwashing detergent. I whipped up a batch a month or so ago and I always test out my homemade goodness before telling everyone on here that it rocks. I have run what I feel is an adequate number of loads with the homemade stuff (which was a combination of washing soda, borax, citric acid and kosher salt). I am sad to report that I am not a fan. I am waiving my white flag. The dishes came out "clean" but they have a layer of film. A great layer of film that you could really see on my tuperware. Unforgivable. Tuperware containers are my nemesis. Why are they so hard to dry? I'll leave them on the counter "air drying" for days. Which creates clutter - my other nemesis. You get the point.

Moral of this story? Give up? For now, I have somewhat thrown in the towel. I have some other irons in the fire and can't find the time to find a new recipe. Plus I feel like I need to use the store bought stuff to bring my dishes back to life. But give up? Never! Someday...

If you have a recipe you KNOW works great, please share! Thank you!
